• A state tax credit that helps Coloradans with disabilities who earn lower incomes. This new credit replaces the disability portion of the former Property Tax, Rent, and Heat (PTC) rebate program.

    • You also must have qualified for full benefits from January 1 - December 31, 2025 from a bona fide public or private plan or source, based solely on your disability.

    • You lived in Colorado from January 1 - December 31, 2025.

    • You were not claimed as a dependent on someone else’s federal income tax return.

    • Your federal AGI is less than $20,000 for singles and $32,000 for married couples. 

  • Yes. This credit helps low-income qualifying individuals. You can receive this credit if you earn less than $20,000 if filing single or $32,000 if filing jointly. 

  • No, the money received from the credit does not count as income for qualifying for state pension benefits.

  • No. Coloradans who do not have a social security number can use an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) when filing their state taxes to claim the credit.

  • Individuals cannot claim both the ​Disability Assistance Credit and the PTC Rebate in the same tax year, even if they meet the requirements for both.
